BABEL is a wooden fruit stand / centerpiece designed for the Lithuanian-based Emko.
Coming from a tableware prototype previously developed, Babel is a tiered centerpiece made of three different elements in solid Scandinavian ash, decorated with a brass handle; all wooden elements are oiled and certified for food contact; the two wooden rings are turned on a lathe with a precisely calculated diameter, so that each one of them can fit the central pole geometrically. The pole is coloured in a warm and light shade of grey.
To be used as a fruit or cake stand, the single rings can be extracted from the central pole and used separately as serving trays.
